A VISIT / kokoro bakari

2013
foam sheet, Japanese paper and mixed media
2 3/8 x 10 x 5 1/2 inches

note: Inspired by the art of “wagashi”, Japanese style confectionery used at Japanese tea ceremonies and also a tradition and a kind of urge to bring a little gift of something when we visit someone or especially their homes. I wanted to express the happy anticipation of each visit and the joy of choosing what to bring especially from endless irresistible show cases at all the confectioners in Japan. “Kokorobakari” means “something small from the heart".
